The 2006 winner is J. Brooks Mersing. Brooks is the son of Randy Mersing of Terra Alta and Pam Mersing of Tunnelton. Brooks graduated from PHS with a 3.93 GPA, scored a 25 on his ACT, a 1210 on his SAT, and is ranked 27 out of 309 in his graduating class. He was captain of the varsity basketball and golf teams and qualified individually for the state golf tournament in his senior season. Brooks plans to attend WVU in the fall and pursue a degree in pharmacy. Brooks joins first year scholarship winner Zachary Metheny at WVU where Zach is also pursuing a pharmacy degree. Second year scholarship winner Eric Ryan is attending Cornell University majoring in civil engineering.
