The 2005 winner is Eric Ryan, Eric is the son of Karina Ryan of Kingwood. During high School, Eric was a member of the Preston High Track and Cross Country teams as well as the Varsity Soccer team. He was also involved in the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Eric served as captain of the soccer team and helped lead the boy’s Cross Country team to its 1^st state championship. Eric also lead the Track Team to two state runner up titles while becoming the individual state champion in the 800 meter and 1600 meter races. At the 2004 state track meet, Eric became the state high school record holder in the mile, breaking a record that stood for more than a decade. Eric attend Cornell university and is pursuing a degree in civil engineering.
